DEFEATING TERRORIST NARRATIVE: Army sustains peace educational tour

Kampo Ranao, Marawi City, September 25, 2017 – The Philippine Army’s 1st Infantry (Tabak) Division and Joint Task Force Marawi is scheduled to bring the second batch of selected children from Marawi City to Manila for “Tabak Education Tour 2” on September 26-30, 2017.

The children will be brought to selected locations in Manila including a simple meet and greet activity with President Rodrigo Roa Duterte at Malacañang Palace.

“We recognize the effect of the ongoing Marawi Crisis to children, that is why we are conducting this socio-cultural tour with the theme: Peaceful Environment for Marawi Children,” said Major General Rolando Bautista, Commander of Joint Task Force Marawi and Philippine Army’s 1st Infantry (Tabak) Division.

This initiative is in partnership with the Provincial Government of Lanao del Sur, Philippine National Police Women and Children Protection Desk, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Teach Peace Build Peace Movement, Rotary Club of Padre Burgos Manila, Philippine Information Agency, and Kilos Kabataan Livelihood Foundation.

Supporters of this activity also include: Autonomous Region in Mulsim Mindanao – Humanitarian Emergency Action Response Team, Philippine Gaming Corporation, Makati Medical Center Foundation, One Meralco Foundation, TV5 Tulong Kapatid Foundation, PLDT Smart Foundation, North Luzon Expressway Corporation, and Max’s Restaurant.

“They will undergo psychosocial activities for peace building away from their regular community and school environment. We want to expose them to peaceful environments outside their conflict affected area,” Maj. Gen. Bautista said.

“This activity is part of the military’s soft power approach as part of remedial measures to unwind the emotional, cognitive, and behavioral functioning of children away from conflict areas in Marawi City. This activity will be conducted to provide new experiences of seeing peaceful real-life application of the lessons they have learned in school,” Maj. Gen. Bautista said.

The tour itinerary also includes Philippine Army Museum, KidZania Manila, the National Museum, and Manila Ocean Park.

Updates of the activities will be posted on #TeamTabak website at and social media account at
