The Philippine Army’s 1st Infantry (Tabak) Division conducted the Change of Command ceremonies presided by Armed Forces of the Philippine Chief of Staff General Eduardo Año at the main battle area in Marawi City on October 6, 2017.
The commander post of the division was turned over to Brigadier General Roseller Murillo by Major General Rolly Bautista, who assumed office as Philippine Army Commanding General in a simple ceremony without fancy decorations except rubbles of falling debris from destroyed buildings in the war torn city.
Even as the Tabak Troopers in Kuta Sang-an, Pulacan, Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur have been holding rehearsals in over a week, the gorund commandesr chose the main battle area as the venue for the ceremony to demonstrate their full support in directly supervising the ground troops fighting to liberate Marawi from the hands of terrorist for almost five months now.
The turn over ceremony was one of a kind where burst of 105 howitzer cannons, guns fires were heard at a short distance.
“We are so fortunate to have witnessed this event seeing two leaders showing humility in exchanging oath of office at the main battle area. They are leaving a legacy of leadership by example worth to be cherished and emulated in the service of the people and protecting the land,” said Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera, Assistant Chief of Staff (G7) of the 1st Division.
