KUTA SANG-AN, Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur  – Troops under Joint Task Force “ZAMPELAN” encountered members of the New People’s Army in Brgy San Isidro, Sergio Osmena, Zamboanga del Norte on 17 February 2018 at 8:34 pm.

The operating troops of 53rd Infantry Battalion led by 1LT ABNER C PILANDO (INF) PA were conducting strike operation at the vicinity of the said area when they clashed with the Communist NPA Terrorists (CNTs).

LTC MARLOWE E PATRIA INF (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer of the 53IB said that the enemy were reportedly sowing terror to the civilian community and are said to be out to conduct liquidation or harassment in the area.

The operating troops were able to intercept the NPAs and figured in a 15-minute firefight which compelled the enemy to scamper from the area, said Patria.

After the firefight, the troops recovered one (1) body of the NPA killed which they left behind along with a magazine for AK47 rifle.  The NPAs carried their other comrades who were wounded as evidenced by the blood stains along enemy tracks. One of our soldiers also died in the firefight.

“We denounce in strongest terms the continued atrocities of NPAs which killed one of our soldiers and their continuous atrocities against our hapless civilians. Our soldier died a hero while protecting our people and our communities. We will vigorously pursue these NPA terrorists until they will be left with no choice but surrender or get killed”, said Maj Gen Roseller G Murillo AFP, 1st ID Commader as he commended the operating troops for the successful encounter.

“The cooperation of the civilians who reported the armed group’s presence in their area is a strong manifestation that civilians have long been tired of these NPA’s terroristc activities in forms of extortion and harassment.” he added.

KUTA SANG-AN, Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur  – The Army Recruitment Office (ARO) under the Army Personnel Mangement Center (APMC) of the Philippine Army is the office in-charge to administer the recruitment process of the Army applicants including the schedule and conduct of APFSAT examination nationwide.

For the convenience of the Army applicants, APMC created three (3) recruitment offices. We have Army Recruitment Office-Luzon based in Fort Andres Bonifacio, Taguig City; Army Recruitment Office-Visayas based in Central Command in Lahug, Cebu City; and Army Recruitment Office-Mindanao based at H4ID in Camp Evangelista, Cagayan de Oro City.

Army Recruitment Office-Luzon caters Army applicants for Luzon and Metro Manila area, Army Recruitment Office-Visayas for Visayas area, and Army Recruitment Office-Mindanao for Mindanao area.  However, any applicant could also apply or take the AFPSAT exam in any of the recruitment offices nationwide.

Particularly here in Mindanao area, Army Recruitment Office-Mindanao had no schedule yet for APFSAT exam as of this period.  In case there will be a schedule for this CY 2018, the office will inform the host unit at least 1 week prior the scheduled exam.

Upon the latest coordination with Army Recruitment Office-Mindanao, the most probable date of AFPSAT exam in Mindanao area may start by next month, March 2018.

KUTA SANG-AN, Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur  – The Joint Law Enforcement Operations of military and police neutralized the notorious Maute-ISIS remnants in Lanao del Norte on 2:30 a.m. February 8, 2018.

Troops of Joint Task Group Lanao del Norte (JTG LDN) under Joint Task Force “ZamPeLan” and Pantar PNP killed the terrorists, a certain Omar Daiser and two (2) others, and recovered high-powered firearms in a Joint Law Enforcement Operations at Brgy Lumba  Punud, Pantar, Lanao del Norte.

Brig Gen William A Alunday AFP, Commander of JTG LDN said that “Omar Daiser is a fugitive who escaped from Marawi City Jail, joined the Maute-ISIS group and was utilized as ISIS contact person in Pantar during the Marawi rebellion.”

“The subject has a standing warrant of arrest  for the crime of robbery with homicide issued by the Marawi City Regional Trial Court. He is known to be an illegal drug user and pusher and a follower of Solitario Ali, former Mayor of Marawi City who is involved in illegal drug trade,” said Alunday.

Daiser and two other unidentified terrorists were shot dead after resisting arrest and fighting it out with the enforcers. The operating troops also recovered four (4) M16 armalite rifles, one (1) M203 GL, one (1) FAL rifle  and one (1) Pietro beretta 9mm pistol with markings PNP property, assorted ammunitions and bandoleers left at the site.

Major General Roseller G Murillo AFP, 1ID Commander said, “the government forces will continue to intensify its internal security operations in Joint Task Force “ZAMPELAN’s” area of operations to neutralize the remnants of terrorist groups in Marawi”.

The cadavers have been  taken by the PNP Pantar for proper disposition and latterly claimed By Bokari Abdulgani, Municipal Councilor of Pantar.
