CAMP SANG-AN, Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur – A total of sixteen Communist NPA Terrorist (CNT), 15 Militia ng Bayan and one regular member, surrenders to 102nd Infantry Brigade in Imelda, Zamboanga Sibugay Saturday (October 20, 2018).

The CNTs yielded to Col. Bagnus Gaerlan, 102nd Brigade Commander, with three firearms, one caliber 45 and two shotguns.

All of the 15 Militia ng Bayan were operating and residents of Barangay Balagon, Siay, Zamboanga Sibugay Province.

Their surrender was facilitated by Hon. Jarvis M. Acosta, Mayor of Siay, and Lt. Col. Jonathan Obena, 44th Infantry Battalion Commander, and pledge for their loyalty to the government thru an oath of allegiance.

“Their surrender will minimize the violent incident and atrocities in our area of responsibility and will weaken the CNTs mass base support,” said Col. Gaerlan.

“We will facilitate and collaborate with other stakeholders for their enrollment to Enhance Comprehensive Local Integration Program (ECLIP) of the government,” Col. Gaerlan added.

Major General Roseller Murillo, Joint Task Force Zampelan commander, commended the efforts of 102nd brigade, 44IB and the stakeholders who were involved and facilitated the successful surrender.

“We encourage other CNTs to return to the folds of law and take advantage of the E-CLIP.” Maj. General Murillo added.

CAMP SANG-AN, Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur – Another three Maute ISIS remnants surrendered to Joint Task Force Ranao in Masiu Lanao del Sur Thursday. (October 18, 2018).

The three yielded to Lt. Col Edgar Villanueva, 49th Infantry Battalion Commander, thru the efforts of Hon. Alonto Gubar, ABC President, Brgy Chairman Hamil Gubar of Sawir, Masiu and Maliksaif Masjida, Afgani Deputy Base Commander NDBC BIAF-MILF/JCMP member.

They also surrendered one RPG, one caliber 45 pistol, magazines and ammunitions.

Custodial debriefing still on-going as of this posting.

“They were recruited during the Marawi Siege, however they were not able to insert in the main battle area due to the relentless security efforts and checkpoints around the lake”, said Lt. Col Villanueva.

“One of them was involved in Pagayawan clash last June 2018”, he added.

Maj. Gen. Roseller Murillo, Joint Task Force Zampelan commander, commended the troops, local officials and the peace-inclined BIAF-MILF member that facilitated the surrender of Maute ISIS remnants.

“We will continuously collaborate with different stakeholders and concerned citizens to encourage other Maute ISIS remnants to surrender and go back to mainstream society,” Maj. Gen. Murillo added.

CAMP SANG-AN, Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur – Seven Dawlah Islamiya/Maute members and supporters surrendered to Joint Task Force Ranao in Pagayawan, Lanao del Sur on tuesday.

The 55th Infantry Battalion, under the Joint Task Force Ranao, spearheaded the surrender of the group along with their firearms.

The group yielded three M1 Garand Rifle, one Carbine, four cal 45, and one 9mm pistol.

Custodial debriefing of the group is still on-going as of this posting.

Maj. Gen. Roseller Murillo, Joint Task Force Zampelan commander, commended the efforts of troops and various stakeholders in the surrender of the Maute group.

“Maute’s were dwindling with their organizational leadership and capabilities, and we encourage others to lay down their arms to live peacefully,” Maj.Gen. Murillo said.

CAMP SANG-AN, Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur – The first ever Regional Youth Leadership Summit (RYLS) was formally opened here today.

The three-day summit aims to empower youth as advocates of peace and development, capacitate them in leadership and peace building, and to organized a contingent for National YLS.

The activity was graced by Col. Benjamin G. Batara Jr., Chief of Staff of 1st Infantry Division, as guest of honor and speaker, Lt. Col. Vladimir Villanueva, Civil Military Operations Battalion Commander, and Lt. Col. Virgilio C. Hamos, Assistant Chief of Staff for CMO, G7.

“I hope that you will internalize that leadership always involve service. As a leader there is always accountability in your part.” Said Col. Batara.

Kia Rose Realis, one of the participant and contingent from Iligan city said that, “We hope that we will be mold more by this summit, to become a great leader and role model in our communities and to the nation.”

RYLS were participated by selected youth from provinces of Lanao del Sur, Lanao del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay and Zamboanga del Norte.

Twenty, out of sixty participants were muslims and contingent from Lanao del Sur and Lanao del Norte.

A composite team of 4th Mechanized Infantry Battalion, PNP Tagoloan and NBI clashed against Daulah Islamiyah /Maute remnants Sunday (September 30, 2018) at Brgy Malimbato and Upper Dimayon, Tagoloan, Lanao del Norte.

The firefight lasted for about ten minutes and resulted to the neutralization of Hadji Rasol Mambuay @ Mercury and recovery of one Elisco M16 A1 rifle, one hand grenade, one short magazine, two handheld radios and several IED materials.

The operation aimed to apprehend Dianalan Dimanatang Imam @ Papayungan and Hadji Rasol Mambuay @ Mercury and their men identified to be remnants of DI/ Maute terrorist who were involved in the Marawi Siege but were able to escapded.

One government soldier was also killed during the encounter.

“Our deepest condolences to the love ones of our soldier and killed Maute remnant.” said Maj Gen Roseller Murillo, JTF ZAMPELAN Commander. “Rest assured that the heroism and sacrifices of our soldier will not be in vain. We will continue to pursue the remanants of DI/Maute terrorist.” he added.
