Seven More Maute/ISIS Remnants; Surrenders in Lanao del Sur

CAMP SANG-AN, Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur – Seven Maute/ISIS remnants surrendered in Lumbaca Unayan, Lanao del Sur 2:00 p.m. Thursday (November 15, 2018).

The seven Mautes yielded to Lt. Col. Ian Noel Ignes, the 55th Infantry Battalion Commander, under the Joint Task Force Ranao of Lanao del Sur.

The remnants also surrendered two M16, one M14 rifles; one UZI; two caliber 45 and one 9mm handguns.

“The joint efforts of LGUs and our troops in the ground made this endeavor successful,” said Ignes.

Custodial debriefing is still on-going as of this posting.

Maj. Gen. Roseller Murillo, 1st Infantry Division and Joint Task Force Zampelan (Zamboanga Peninsula and Lanao Provinces) Commander, commended the efforts of the troops and stakeholders involved.

“The continuous surrender of Maute’s entails weakening of their organizational leadership and capabilities, and we encourage others to lay down their arms and live peacefully,” Maj.Gen. Murillo said.

“We will continuously work together with stakeholders in order to attract more Maute/ISIS to surrender,” he added.XXX
