Gov’t troops seize 6.5 million worth of drugs, suspect arrested

CAMP SANG-AN, Labangan, ZDS –An estimated market value of P6.5 million crystalline substance suspected shabu were seized and a drug personality was arrested by the combined elements of 4th Mechanized Infantry Battalion, PDEA Regional Office – X and BARMM and the PNP in Brgy West Poblacion, Balo-i, Lanao del Norte 3:30 p.m, Thursday, June 27, 2019.

Jalil Akil, alias Malik Linog, the alleged drug dealer, was arrested through a buy bust operation.

The government forces also seized two genuine one thousand peso bills, 13 bundles of cut out one thousand bill (boodle money) in Akil’s possession.

According to the 4th Mechanized Infantry battalion commander, Ltc Bernardo A Taqueban, “The success of this operation can be attributed to the close collaboration between and among the different law enforcement agencies in the campaign against illegal drugs. Our unit is always ready to assist in any joint law enforcement and security operations to ensure the security and protection of our communities.”

The evidences were already facilitated by PDEA Regional Laboratory Office for qualitative and quantitative examination; while the suspect was temporarily detained at PDEA RO-X Detention cell for booking and documentation of his violation.

Meanwhile, Brig. Gen. Ezra James Enriquez, 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade Commander, who has operational jurisdiction over Lanao del Norte, said that “Proper coordination among law enforcement units and timely execution greatly helped our forces in the successful conduct of the operation”.

For his part, Major General Roberto Ancan, the 1st Infantry Division and Joint Task Force Zampelan (Zamboanga Peninsula and Lanao Provinces) commander, lauded the troops involved for the successful Joint Law Enforcement Support Operation.

“We thank the concerned residents of Balo-i for the timely information relayed to our troops which led to the success of our operations. Rest assured that we will work doubly hard in order to sustain our gains in peace and development efforts in this part of Western Mindanao,” said Ancan
