Armor Officer Leads Task Force Zamboanga

CAMP SANG-AN, Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur – An Armor-trained officer will now lead the Task Force Zamboanga after a change of command ceremony held in Headquarters, TFZ, Upper Calarian, Zamboanga City Monday, August 26, 2019.

Col. Antonio John Divinagracia succeeded Col. Leonel Nicolas who took post as the commander of 102nd Infantry (IGSOON) Brigade based in Sanito, Ipil Zamboanga Sibugay last week.

Divinagracia is a proud member of Philippine Military Academy Class of 1991. An Airborne, Armor and well-rounded military officer with expertise in operations, intelligence and managerial acumen.

He is a graduate of Master in Public Administration in Western Mindanao State University and Masters in National Security Administration in Development Security in Development Academy of the Philippines.

He also served as the Executive Officer of the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigadeand Deputy Brigade Commander of the 101st Infantry Brigade which makes him best-fitted to stir the helms of the Task Force for being accustomed to the peace and security situation of 1ID’s area of operation.

Divinagracia also commanded the 1st Armor Battalion, Mechanized Infantry Division during the height of Zamboanga Siege in the year 2013.

During his assumption speech, Divinagracia reminisced his early military career, tour of duty as a Tabak trooper and the Zamboanga Siege experience.

He also expressed his commitment in keeping the city secured physically and psychologically. He also vowed to help promote the city as one of the country’s tourist destination by partnering with and assisting the local government units, agencies and law enforcement of friendly forces.

Meanwhile, Maj. Gen. Roberto Ancan, the 1st Infantry Division and Joint Task Force Zampelan (Zamboanga Peninsula and Lanao Provinces) commander, who presided the change of command ceremony, congratulated Col. Nicolas for his accomplishments and relentless effort in sustaining peace and security in the Task Force area of responsibility.

“I am confident that the new Task Force commander is capable of handling the unit and can deal with the demanding challenges in the pursuit of just and lasting peace of Zamboanga City”, Ancan said.

“I urged every TFZ troopers to intensify their passion in serving the people of Zamboanga city and fight any threat groups who continue to pester communities”, added Ancan.
