CAMP SANG-AN, Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur – Three young local terrorist group (LTG) members were arrested and yielded firearms to Army’s 49th and 82nd Infantry Battalion joint operation in Brgy Paridi, Piagapo, Lanao del Sur 5:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 18, 2019.
Apprehended were Janla Tangolo, male, 20 years old, Arapat Tangolo, male, 22 years old and Kamarudin Sultan, male, 20 years old.
Firearms recovered consists of two M14 and Bushmaster 5.56 assault rifles, one caliber 38 pistol, magazines, ammunitions and bandoliers.
According to Brig. Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr., 103rd Infantry Brigade Commander, who has operational jurisdiction of Lanao del Sur, “The apprehension of the local terrorist groups were attributed to the report of a peace-loving and concerned civilian in our area of responsibility”.
“We are glad that after Marawi Siege and series of encounters with the local terrorist groups, we received more reports from the communities regarding enemies or armed group presence”, said Brawner.
Meanwhile, Maj. Gen. Roberto Ancan, the 1st Infantry Division and Joint Task Force Zampelan (Zamboanga Peninsula and Lanao Provinces) commander, commended the efforts of the troops and the concerned civilian.
“The report from the civilians or constituents is an evidence for their desire for a peaceful and secured communities,” said Ancan.
“We encourage others to be courageous, continuously trust our troops and report any local terrorist presence in order to sustain the gains of peace and development in Western Mindanao,” Ancan concluded.
