CAMP SANG-AN, Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur – The International Monitoring Team (IMT), who’s in-charge of observing the implementation of peace between the Government of the Philippines and Moro Islamic Liberation Front, visited the 1st Infantry (TABAK) Division here Monday, November 4, 2019.
Maj. Gen. Dato’ Hj Ya’Cob Bin Hj Samiran, the Head of Mission, was welcomed by Col. Benjamin Batara Jr., Chief of Staff, 1ID and subsequently made a courtesy call to Brig. Gen. Bagnus Gaerlan Jr., Acting Division Commander of 1ID.
Samiran is the Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations and Training in the Malaysian Army. He holds a Master in Information Technology from National University of Malaysia, Master in Mass Communication from MARA University of Technology and Master of Arts in Strategic Studies from National Defense University in Washington DC, USA.
IMT is responsible in monitoring the security, humanitarian, rehabilitation and development aspects, socio-economic assistance and civilian protection.
It has also intensified its proactive measures to disrupt the terrorist groups and its supporters, from radicalizing Filipinos in some parts of Mindanao.
The Team is comprised of military, police and conflict resolution experts from Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, Japan, Norway and the European Union.
