Loose Firearms Surrender in Madalum Lanao del Sur

MADALUM, LDS – Two high powered firearms were turned over by the locals of Madalum, Lanao del Sur to the 5tth Infantry Battalion in the Municipal hall 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 3, 2020.

“The concerted effort and intensified collaboration among our troops, PNP, local communities, local chief executives and other stakeholders resulted into this momentous activity”, said Lt. Col. Franco Rafael Alano, 55th Infantry Battalion Commander.

The turned-over loose firearms  consist of two M16A1 5.56mm rifles.

Vice Mayor Usman Sarangani Sr. who facilitated the turn-over of the loose firearms thanked the Army for their effort in sustaining peace and development in the municipality of Madalum.

He also assured that local goverment of Madalum will exert extra effort to support the 55th Infantry Battalion.

Meanwhile, Col Jose Maria Cuerpo, 103rd Infantry Brigade Commander who has operational jurisdiction over Lanao del Sur said that “This is part of our campaign against proliferation of loose firearms so that our people would feel more secured and safe in their daily activities.”

Cuerpo also urged the locals to cooperate and report to proper authorities for the proliferation of firearms in their communities.
