Wanted Army Trooper, Surrenders in Tagum

CAMP SANG-AN, Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur – Wanted Army personnel who shot to death two and wounded five personnel of the 55th Infantry Battalion in Pagayawan, Lanao del Sur last December 24, 2019, surrendered to troops in Brgy Busaon, Tagum City, last January 12, 2020.

Corporal Nao Mohammad Lassam, the perpetrator and a Cadre of one of the detachment in Binidayan, Lanao del Sur, served as guide for the clearing operation of the ambush incident, while on patrol deliberately fired his issued R4 rifle to the troops.

Lassam was turned over to the PNP in Marantao Police Station Detention Facility 1:30 p.m. today, pending the trial of the case.

Appropriate criminal charges were filed at the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor, Hall of Justice, Marawi city for two counts of murder.

Serious physical injuries and multiple frustrated murder was also filed by the wounded personnel involved.

Brig. Gen. Generoso “Gene” Ponio, the newly installed Commander of the 1st Infantry Division, commended the troops who facilitated the surrender of Lassam.

“We see to it that erring personnel will be given due process and face the military’s and country’s justice system and we will not hesitate to put them behind bars if proven guilty”, added Ponio.
