Tabak Training School has New Commandant

CAMP SANG-AN, Labangan, ZDS – The 1st Infantry (TABAK) Division Training School now has new commandant after the Joint Change of Command and Chief of Office ceremony held here Friday, February 7, 2020.

Lt. Col. Jonathan Obena succeeded Lt. Col. Renante Besa who is set to take post as a commanding officer of one of the battalions of the command.

Obena is a member of the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1995.

He is a graduate of Masters in Business Administration in University of Mindanao, Masters in Business Management in Mindanao State University in Iligan Institute of Technology and Masters in Public Management major in Development Security in Development Academy of the Philippines.

Obena also finished Command and Staff Operations Law Course in Asia Pacific Center for Military Law and Command and General Staff Course in Command and General Staff College.

During his assumption speech, Obena thank and expressed his gratitude to the command for considering as the Commandant of 1DTS.

He also stated the importance of training beside the operational and administrative functions of a unit.

He further urged the personnel of the 1st DTS to implore their cooperation and support to accomplish the task mandated by the command.

Col. Benjamin Batara Jr., Chief of Staff and the presiding officer, reminded the incoming commandant of 1st DTS of the importance of leadership and administration of the school.

“1st DTS is a very vital component of the division. It is where the discipline, leadership and fighting capability of the troops were molded in order to serve and protect the constituents of the area of responsibility effectively and efficiently”, said Batara.

Meanwhile, Major Malvin Ligutan acted as the acting chief of the office of the Assistant Chief of Staff for Civil Military Operations, G7.

He succeeded Lt. Col. Franco Rafael Alano who is now the commanding officer of the 55th Infantry Battalion, based in Madalum, Lanao del Sur.
